Gatsby Description- "Peculiarly American"
Nick describes Gatsby as being peculiarly american when "he was balancing himself on the dashboard of his car with that resourcefulness of movement that is so peculiarly american". This can be connected the change in the american dream from the dream to find safety and security to having the largest amount of material possessions. This is portrayed by Gatsby because he was sitting on the dash of his car unnerved by anything because he is rich and believes everything is okay. Since he was sitting on the dash tapping shows he is a little uneasy, this could be because when someone has money their personality is more go, go, go so they are never alone with their thoughts because they buy their happiness and don't truly have happiness. They use their materialistic items for happiness.

Great Gatsby- Blog Post 1
In chapter 1 of The Great Gatsby the narrator shares advice that his father gave him with the reader. His advice was "whenever you feel like criticizing any one just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had". I think Fitzgerald had Nick share this information with the reader because it is an important thing to learn and it is good advice for one to give. This shows that Nick is a good reliable narrator who is smart and is trying to teach a lesson. Nick is "confused and a little disgusted" because he doesn't understand why Daisy is staying even tho Tom had another woman, a mistress in New York and that she doesn't seemed phased that he cheated on her.

Great Gatsby Anticipation Guide- Opinions
The statement "money can help us make people fall in love with us" is true in my opinion. I feel this is true because I feel as if you are out and meet two people who are both physically attractive and have a good personality who you like but one has money and one does not I think you would go for the one who has money. I think this because if I did not know either one of the guys prior and was just getting to know them I would try more with the guy with money because more money is appealing than less money. Also I feel as if people like to receive things and if you are in a relationship with someone who has more money and can afford to buy things and give you things you would be more enticed in the relationship and prefer that over a person who can not get things. Therefore I believe that "money can help make us make people fall in love with us"!
The statement "you can never relive the past" is true in my opinion. I feel this statement to be true because the past is the past and you can't ever go back in time and change it or relive it all you can do is move forward. I feel that if you do something once the feeling is magical and new and amazing but when you go do it again it still may feel amaxing but its nothing like the first time, therefore showing that you can never relive the past. For example when you fall in love for the first time you never get those feelings back, the next time you fall in love you may be happy and excited and giddy but you can never have the excitement of the first time you fell in love. Therefore I believe that "you can never relive the past".

Walden
Henry David Thoreau writes about the ideas of non conformity and living a simple life in a non materialistic world. Thoreau wrote "my house was not finished for winter but was merely a defense against the raincoat hour plastering or chimney the walls being of rough weather strained boards with wide chinks which made it cool at night". He is describing his some house that is oohing elaborate just something that will protect him partially from the crazy weather. He is showing that he lives simply. He also says "simplicity, simplicity, simplicity!" again showing that all you need is simple things it the best and easiest way to live happily. He then showed ideas of nonconformity by saying "I learned this at least by my experiment that if one advances confidently in the direction of their dreams and endeavors to live life which he imagined he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours". He followed his dreams and did something that everyone else would of though he was crazy for doing, but he didn't care he did what he wanted. Henry David Thoreau showed that you can live a some life and not conform to society's norm and still live happily and enjoy life even more.

The Tell Tale Heart and Squeaky Boots similarities
Edgar Allen Poes story The Tell Tale Heart and the Squeaky Boots episode of Spongebob have a lot in common. For example in The Tell Tale Heart the man kills his caretaker and is haunted by the sound of a beating heart which ends up being his guilty conscious which is similar to Squeaky Boots because Mr. Krabs continues to hear the squeaking of boots which is his guilty conscious of taking the boots and hiding them. Another similarity is that the man in The Tell Tale Heart snaps and confesses that he killed his caretaker who had an evil eye and in Squeaky Boots Mr. Krabs snaps and confesses he stole the boots. The last similarity is that in The Tell Tale Heart the man hides the body under the floor boards and in Squeaky Boots Mr. Krabs hides the boots under the floor boards. The story of The Tell Tale Heart and Squeaky Boots are both similar in many ways. They are similar in the way the crime was committed and how they dealt with it.

Imagination
Imagination is very important in life. No mater what your age is if you are creative and have imagination life is a lot more fun! Imagination helps make life more interesting and it helps make life still feel new and exciting when everything really is dull and boring especially when we grow up. Growing up we are always told use our imagination and we all at one point or another looked at each other and thought why does very one keep saying this, it was to keep us dreaming. We were told to use our imagination to keep us dreaming ad believing that we could do and have whatever we wanted.
In the film Big Fish imagination is shown a lot. Edward Bloom the father has a very creative and big imagination. He is constantly telling stories and making up obsurd things that no one would believe. He used his imagination so that no one would forget about him, even if the stories were crazy and unthinkable his family still remembered them because of that. His imagination was huge and it was unlimited.

Romanticism Writing Prompt
If I had the freedom to develop a life that is perfect for me right now with absolutely no restrictions it would be a lot different than the life I live right now. I would change things about all aspects of life, to make it easier to live. Today technology runs everything, I'm constantly on my phone checking my twitter, my instagram, texting or just searching the web. Doing this wastes so much time. I go hours throughout the day checking my phone everything happens so much quicker now too because everything is a click or response away. I would change this, I would make it so that the internet was still there but that it didn't run our lives so much. Things like twitter and instagram would still be around but it wouldn't be able to be accessed as much. There would be certain times were it could be accessed and others were it couldnt. This would help people live a life more in reality and less through the web, but negative outcomes could be that it would take longer for information to get from person to person.
Another thing I would change is how school worked. School now a days isnt even about learning as much as its about just getting good grades. I sit through seven classes a day and by the 2 o'clock bell I couldn't even tell you 5 things I learned. This is because school isnt even focused on that anymore its all about getting high grades and standardized testing. Students are so stressed about grades and the future that they don't even enjoy school theyre just cramming for the next test or paper they have to do. I would change this by making there be less testing in schools, this would take the pressure off students allowing them to focus more and want to take part in the class conversation because they have a clearer mind and not the thought that they need to know every word everyone says for the test next week thats looming the back of their mind. While this would be really good for most students, a negative outcome could be that some students just don't pay attention at all because they know they'll never have to worry about questions about this topic counting towards their grade. These are just a few of the many things I would change if I had the power to do so.
